Hello! I go by Chele Ramos, and I am a Madison raised, self taught portrait artist. I have been painting for about 6 years now, but have enjoyed drawing since I was young. I grew up in Madison, took a 7 year hiatus from my life on the west coast, and eventually found my way back to my hometown where I started my family and began my art career.
My art focus has been portraiture, but as I grow my work has really become more about human emotion and mental health awareness. Going forward, Mental Health Awareness will be my main focus. I feel that there are a lot of broken people and heartbreak. I hope to bring light to this situation, help people to be less afraid to have hard conversations, and spread hope with my art.
I paint with several different mediums including watercolor, acrylics, oils, pastels, graphite, and charcoal.
Artist Statement:
As an artist I feel that it is my obligation to open people’s eyes in some way. I feel that art should induce a strong emotion, create a new train of thought, or aid in human understanding. I strive to create beautiful portraits and paintings that, either, allow one to experience a different perspective, or induce a loving memory of someone for the viewer to treasure, always.
